Here is the current forecast discussion on space weather and geophysical activity, issued 2018 Jan 30 1230 UTC.

Solar Activity

24 hr Summary: Solar activity was very low and the sun was spotless. No Earth-directed CMEs were observed in available coronagraph imagery.

Forecast: Solar activity is expected to remain very low all three days (30 Jan - 01 Feb).

Energetic Particles

24 hr Summary: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux decreased from moderate to normal levels during the period and the greater than 10 MeV proton flux remained at background values.

Forecast: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to be at normal to moderate levels all three days (30 Jan - 01 Feb) and the greater than 10 MeV proton flux is expected to remain at background levels.

Solar Wind

24 hr Summary: Solar wind parameters were indicative of a slow solar wind regime. Total IMF strength varied from 3 to 8 nT, but was predominantly at 5 nT or less most of the period. The Bz component was variable and without any prolonged and pronounced periods of southward direction. Solar wind speed averaged primarily from 325 to 350 km/s. The phi angle was mostly positive with a few shifts into a negative sector.

Forecast: The solar wind environment is anticipated to be mostly a slow regime over the next three days (30 Jan - 01 Feb) with a a few occasions of a slightly disturbed environment on days one and two due to effects associated with proximity to the HCS and possible influences of a weak, negative polarity, isolated CH HSS that was apparent when at center disk on 26 Jan.

Geospace

24 hr Summary: The geomagnetic field was quiet to unsettled.

Forecast: The geomagnetic field is expected to be mostly quiet, with a few periods of unsettled conditions likely over days one and two (30-31 Jan) due to effects from the anticipated, mildly disturbed and enhanced solar wind field associated with HCS proximity and influences of the isolated CH HSS. Day three (01 Feb) is expected to be quiet as any weak, CH HSS influences wane.
