Fellow Aeronomists,
   Somewhere I read ,
"Unfortunately, vertical reflections typically disappear at frequencies
higher than
the ~30m range so that the more popular HF DX bands (10m-20m) cannot be
adequately characterized by these vertical ionograms. For these higher
frequen-
cies, oblique ionograms are generally utilized to yield empiric data on the
refractive properties of the ionosphere and the virtual altitudes of these
reflections. However, such data are generally limited since the goal of most
ionospheric research studies are aimed at determining the variation of
electron
density with height."
This may have appeared on the ips.Australia web site. Is this true ??
If this is true, a nearly impossible situation exists to provide reliable
data.
