SIDC URSIGRAM 41228
SIDC SOLAR BULLETIN 28 Dec 2004, 1237UT
SIDC FORECAST (valid from 1230UT, 28 Dec 2004 until 30 Dec 2004)
SOLAR FLARES : Eruptive (C-class flares expected, probability >= 50%)
GEOMAGNETISM : Quiet (A<20 and K<4)
SOLAR PROTONS : Warning condition
PREDICTIONS FOR 28 Dec 2004 10CM FLUX: 097 / AP: 012
PREDICTIONS FOR 29 Dec 2004 10CM FLUX: 095 / AP: 007
PREDICTIONS FOR 30 Dec 2004 10CM FLUX: 091 / AP: 007
COMMENT: Despite yesterday's forecast, there has been a small firework of
C-flares in the past night from NOAA AR 713, the biggest being a C7.2 flare from
NOAA active region 713 just after midnight. The ACE proton flux sensor reacted
to the flares in the lower energy channels. This indicates that the Earth
environment is magnetically connected to the flaring site. More flaring is
expected from NOAA active region 713 in the coming day, after this the active
region rotates behind the Western solar limb. In the next 24 hours a potential
thus exists for an M-class flare and a proton event. Geomagnetic activity is
expected to remain quiet (K<=3).
