I downloaded and installed software version 1.372 several weeks ago. Since
then, I have had to do a master reset several times. Every once in a while
the sweep will "freeze" and, during the phone contest, the receiver "died."
The master reset fixed the problem each time.
I don't recall ever having to do a master reset with software version 1.371.
What is the experience with the rest of you? Do you find that 1.372 "locks
up" more than 1.371 did?
Just curious.

Hi Bernard,
Some of folks on the TT reflector have politely asked that we keep
discussions about the TT Orion on the TT Orion reflector. That's why I'm not
posting
my comments to the TT reflector.
Anyway, to get to your issues.
Before I load any new Orion software updates I do 2 things:
1. A Ram Clear
2. A Master reset.
After loading the new Orion update I do another Master Reset and then turn
the rig off and then back on.
I have been running Orion Ver. 1.372 ever since it came out and have not had
the issues that you are having.
The Sweep does not work as smoothly as one would like and TT is addressing
this issue along with a few other issues. I engage the sweep only to see what's
going on, on the band. The sweep is never engaged when I'm transmitting.
If I were you, I would follow my advise above and then reload ver. 1.372
and then do a Master rest.
A rumor I have heard is that a new Orion update is tentatively scheduled for
release to the public at the end of April, yes this year.
I really like ver. 1.372. You will discover that the RF Gain/s work great
with the [prog] AGC.
Set your [prog] AGC on each receiver as follows:
Hang: 0.30 s (allows for a little hold of the received signal)
Decay: 5 db/s
Threshold: 00.37 uv ( this takes many turns of the Multi-purpose knob, just
keep crank'in)
This sets the AGC Threshold to maximum sensitivity. You will not have to
enter into the AGC settings again. All control will be performed using the RF
Gain/s. Turn the RF Gain/s down from 100% to a percentage that allows for
comfortable listening.
I have only 2 issues with Orion's operation, but neither of these issues has
interfered with my operation of the rig. 100% SSB.
What's really surprising about the Orion, even with some of the programming
bugs that exist, you have that best rig in the world and on the market today.
And that's a fact!
Hope all of this helps
