I have orinoco gold cards myself. I have not found a way to amplify the card
via any settings other than the 1/2/5.5/11 mbs settings, with 11 having the
highest output power. If you do decide to go with an amp, try rflinx, I have
found that the Winncom, YDI amps have a very high thermal noise level, my noise
floor from those amps alone on the receive side is -72db, with -15db of that
being amp noise.
