Don't you find it strange that you always have a super-strong SNR???
Have you tested using cards that reliably report signal strengths? You
will notice that the Intersil is always very generous to report RSSI,
which will not change all that much since you only have higher output
power, not RX amplification.
Anyway, you can believe that signal if you want to, and probably use it to
align, however in most cases it reports a bogus high value.
