There was a box a from Bay Networks that pinged the Base or Satellite and when it didn't get a ping response it turned off and then back on the power.  I can't remember the name of the unit, but this would be a good way to make the system more fail safe and keep you from having to drive

We have had some pretty good responses, but would like to see this problem really solved a bit further.

Some of our nodes will be up to 1000 miles from the nearest technician, and up a commercial tower, thereby making access very difficult.

The APC solution just doesn't cut it, as it won't have any network access to it, and the hardware has to be smaller as well. Does anybody have a solution to this?

Nate, I notice that Karlnet has a checkbox under the General Setup for Watchdog Reboot Timer...seems like it might solve this problem.  But if the AP has really crashed...well, lets just say it didn't work for me.  And I hear you on the travel.  One of mine is about 13 miles away on top of mountain, and if it's winter, it's only accessible via skis.

Has anyone got any stats on there network on how much equipment locks up or gets fried due to storms? Im located in tornado alley and storms this time of year happen all the time.
I was just curious how much equipment others might loss due to storm related problems. Or just the usual lockups from APs and other units used for PTP links?
It really sucks when you have a radio lock up and it is 30-50 miles away.
How do some of you remotely reboot your radios when you cant use the configurator to reboot them?
Any cool devices we haven't heard of yet?

Just curious

Nate
