I took a look at what CTWin is sending out the RS-232 port.
On initially loading, it issues commands to the radio to set both VFOs and read
the frequency and mode. That's why CTWin correctly displays the radio's mode
and frequency initially.
However, after that first burst of commands, CTWin becomes silent and polls no
more.
It's certainly not a generic problem with CTWin, since it polls my Yaesu radios
about every second or so and works smoothly with them.
So it's down to "why doesn't CTWin keep polling the IC-706MKIIG for data after
the initial set?"
Can anyone help with that question?
TIA,
Dan
