Hard to believe, but the manual is wrong.
If you log a zone, then you get zone points. If you log a HQ designator (i.e.
"ARRL") then you get HQ points. CT does not need a list of them - if it's
text, it's HQ, if it's a number, it's a zone. It's as simple as that.
