The = key?  On my numeric pad I have a large "+" and "ENTER" key that do 
not change when NUM LOCK is on or off.  No need to redefine them.  For the 
QTC's to the last QSO, I would press ALT-L, then ENTER (to enter the 
callsign), then + multiple times to send the QTC's.
  Sorry .... should have added the key word ..... Laptop.
Sometimes it's not convenient to plug in an external keyboard and mouse.
