Thanks Chris... >>Have you checked the BIOS settings for the LPT Port?. If they are set to ECS or ECP try changing to something else. I have had similar problems to this myself.<< We tried two different computers with the interface. Also, we've used printers on both computers, so BIOS problems seem unlikely.
