[ct-user] "stuck" packets?

I noticed an odd problem this weekend using CT 9.45 with a direct COM port 
connection to a TNC (PK232MBX).
We would go for long periods (maybe 30-45 minutes) with no spots at all. 
After using the ALT T command and sending a talk message or spot, a huge 
amount of spots would scroll down through the window, like a logjam had been 
cleared. If no spots had been seen in a few minutes, I could use ALT T and 
hit enter on the keyboard and the spots would start flowing.
 
Is this possibly a problem with flow control settings in the TNC, or with CT?
