It appears it's time for my annual message stating once again the current
versions of CT, 7,8,9, all work 'PERFECTLY' inside the windows environment.
I have, for the last 3 years, used CT running inside windows flawlessly. I
operate in every major CW contest and use CT to send CW, monitor packet, and
multi-task with GeoClock. You 'DO-NOT' have to perform any of the 'gimmicks'
suggested on the YCCC web page and I wish K1EA would remove them from his
web page. Here, once again, are the only steps you need to perform to run CT
'PERFECTLY' in WIN 95/98.
1: Open the DOS window
2: Change directories to the CT directory, i.e. CD\CT
3: Run any necessary TSR's, i.e. COMTSR1, COMTSR4, FONT SS, etc.
4: Run CT
There has only been 'ONE' documented flaw/bug in this procedure and it only
happens with some computer/radio combinations and only for CW contests. It
is at most a minor irritation. If your radio becomes keyed while CT is
initializing go the logging screen and press F-4. Pressing any CW function
key will clear the key-down condition, F-4 sends your call.
There is a screen-shot on my web page taken during a contest. I prefer to
have GeoClock running/multi-tasking during most contests. It 'DOES-NOT'
affect CW timing or slow down logging.
Try it. You'll never go back to DOS again.
