Skip,
This is pretty common.
You need to convert to using the "LOOP" network method.
This method uses only one com port to do networking
instead of requiring two as you have in your middle
machine.
It's very reliable and in use at many of the multi-multi
stations that are active today. This is especially true
of DXpeditions that usually only have notebook computers
with one serial port.
Basically, the output of computer #1's com port goes to
the input of #2's com port => the output of #2's com
port goes to #3's input => the output of #3 goes back to
the input of #1. This creates the loop. You can see
that you can add almost any number of computers to the
loop by conecting the inputs and outputs properly.
When you start CT you must use the -LOOP command line
switch.
Some say that the handshaking lines are not necessary
but the same situation applies for output to input
around the loop and so on.
Test it before the contest.
