A few years ago I built up a wired remote so that I could operate the voice
keyer in my TS850SAT, I've used it in several CQWW contests under ZM2K.
Works a treat.
I presume the TS870 has the same facility. The manual will show you how to
wire it up. It consists of a box with one button for each memory and a clear
button with different value resistors to enable each function. It plugs into
one of the accessory sockets on the back of the TS850.
I have a really long lead on mine and I use a headset mic pretty well all of
the time. This is great cause I can actually get up and stretch, etc during
DX. I can talk and press the keyer buttons no trouble. The only time I have
to use the buttons on the rig is to program each memory.
