We had a similar problem at ZM2K with a TS930.
With that rig, the shield on the mike input circuit is quite
seperate from the rig chassis. The latter is also the headhones audio
return path.
If you run your boom mike headset through a box (voice keyer or
otherwise) where the two are tied together, you will have hum on
transmit.
The trick is not to try and re-design the Kenwood radio by connecting
the mike shield to the rig chassis. Keep them separate. If your voice
machine won't let you, consider using an audio isolating transformer
between the voice keyer and the mike input socket.
Even easier: use CW :-)
