CT8 R2B8/B2R8 Problem

b2r9 and r2b9 have the same problem, the reconstituted log is corrupted and
most qso's are lost.  that along with the crashes caused by trying to correct
modes when we forgot to change it when we qsy'ed forced me back to ct8 to
edit the iaru log.  fortunately  9to8 and 8to9 seem to work ok.  and you can
change modes in 8.53 without crashing.
