I probably should have titled my post differently. I agree that not
everybody should be dead on zero beat when calling, especially in a
big pile-up. K0AV, K9YC and K9MA make valid points . You at least need
to be in the receiving stations bandpass and using a TX offset should
be dynamic instead of fixed. I never use the logging program offset,
using the RIT and XIT when trying to work a station is a lot easier
for me. Sometimes a station on the RX end of a pile-up works one
station up in freq. and the next one down.
For those calling in a pile-up or calling a station that's running.
(especially on 160 ) If you know you have a pretty good signal and
can't get thru after 2 or three calls and no one else is calling,
check your settings. That goes double if you are running low power. If
I am running a 450 Hz bandwith and you are not in my passband...... 73
