Plaques are nice, but I would never want to be honored in a contest that is
run for people who live in the northeast. The old boy club that runs ARRL
and contests Is out of touch, but then honoring a W4 might be a good idea.
If contests promote participation of radio waves that bounce off the
sky, that is also a good idea-- Especially if you're contesting against
your own performance which means, if you like plaques, then you should get
your own.
BTW, While I'm in the mood to speak facts to power, I want to Shout out
in favor of 100% self-funded DX-expeditions! Oh, and tip your Sherpas
generously, too.
