I've also been in touch with one of my contesting friends - Mike W4EF.
We both went to Ohio State around the same time with a few other
contesters - K3JT, N8VW and KC5R. We were pretty active in contests from
W8LT back in those days. He's in Tujunga. He says he's half way between
the Hurst and Eaton fires. They are OK for now but ready to evacuate on
a moments notice if they have to.
He says it's pretty crazy all around him. He works at the JPL, so he
can't go to work right now because they are shutdown until at least Monday.
