Would the 262 degree 8 pin DIN connector fit?  These are slightly different
that the standard 270 degree 8-pin DIN plug.  The 262 degree plug is what is
used on some older Yaesu rigs such as various FT1000 variants for the band
data connection.

Bring a rubber mallet to Field Day so you can smack the filters when the
relays get intermittent on receive.
