I only run assisted in several of the biggies who do not differentiate
between SOAB and SOAB(A).(RDX,WAE,CQWPX)(why limit myself?)

I use VE7CC w/ an rbn feed and don't filter a thing.

For one reason, I just don't *HAVE* any closeby skimmers. None. My closest
ones are W1NT-6 or KM3T-2 down in NH (both who have pretty good reception
abilities), but I know for a fact there are openings I get here some
distance away that they sometimes don't hear or don't hear until later. (10M
Es opening to EU or a low band might open here 30-40mins before SS occurs
there in NH.)

Secondly, I don't want to occupy the same frequency as, (say) JA3YBK or UP2L
who *I* may not hear but they are working, say, EU and I can work (some)
EU's as well if I had a clear QRG.

I never understood folks strategies who only wanted spots, from their own
States, or 1 or 2 nearby States.

Maybe I am just weird for usually wanting to spin the big knob or else when
I am assisted just gimme a firehose of spots but no happy medium?

Cheers

=============================================

I think it's a BIG mistake to filter spots to only allow spots from close by

stations. I would not trust the "neighbors' (or for that matter one only a

thousand miles away) crappy antenna on his skimmer RX to hear what I hear.

Perhaps with a bigger antenna but there are lots of times I have worked

stations that are not even spotted on this continent.
