I think Randy is more level headed and right than Jim.</pre>Here's why I
think that.</pre>No contest is fair. I could list 100 reasons why that
is, but we all know all the reasons.</pre>The reason for Randy's post
(and this one by me as well) is that Jim K9YC (an obviously intelligent
individual) offers</pre>no solution. All he does is moan and groan
about it not being fair contesting from California. </pre>(Hey, I'm
sorry, you moved there from Chicago!)</pre>I don't get on here weekly or
monthly and whine and go on about how unfair NAQP is from NB.</pre>(or
CQP, 7-QP, HI QP, All Asian, Salmon Run or NA Sprint (20 is often dead
at the start).</pre></pre>I either don't play in them, or if I do, I
accept the challenge, do what I can and be happy with my efforts. I
compare my scores</pre>against others in the Maritimes or my previous
scores.</pre></pre>Respectfully, </pre></pre>Mike VE9AA</pre></pre>There
is a principle in cosmology called (surprise!) the The Cosmological
Principle:
"On the largest cosmic scales, the Universe is both homogeneous and
isotropic.
Homogeneity means that there is no preferred location in the Universe.
That is,
no matter where you are in the Universe, if you look at the Universe, it
will
look the same."
Ideally, ham radio contesting would be subject to its own "cosmological
principle" where the playing field is flat and there is no preferred
location.
It can't be, I know, because the earth is too small to present
homogeneity, but
some contests come closer than others, the CQ WPX, for example, compared
to the
CQ WW.
Jim, K9YC, is basically right.

Ken, AB1J

Subject: Re: [CQ-Contest] CQWW RTTY this weekend!
I recall a commercial for Life Cereal where the two kids say, "Let's get
Mikey
to try it. He hates everything." For some reason that comes to mind
when I
read one of your posts about some contest that doesn't meet your
approval.
It is fine to not like a contest and chose not to operate. But, the
rest of us
are tired of your complaints without any suggestion of how your issue
could be
remedied. Give it a rest.
Randy K5ZD
PS - All contests are not "fair". That doesn't make them not fun.
