If you can’t work the EU mult on 80M or run EU on the band, it doesn’t matter
what the scoring is. 0 x infinity still equals 0.

Its kind of like NAQP from W1. If I can’t hear W2/W3 on 15M, they could be a
million points a Q and it doesn’t change the outcome.

The great thing about contesting is that there are many contests. You find the
ones you like and/or can be competitive and you focus on those. And realize
that the one’s you love, are potentially the exact opposite for other people.
That’s what makes the sport a good one.

Plenty for all to enjoy.

I agree that the CQ-WW's are good contests, but I also think consideration
should be given to exploring alternate ways of scoring. These could be
developed and perfected over time and done in parallel with traditional
scoring, to keep everyone more-or-less happy.

If nothing else, alternative scoring would be an interesting experiment and I
think all participants would be interested, even if they didn't approve.

For what it's worth, NAQP and SS can be fun from W1.

K5ZD makes over 1000 QSOs in SS CW each year, and places quite well. The
NAQP August SSB record was set in W1, and the second-place finisher in the
January running also operated in W1. Randy and many other ops have had
countless 200+ hours in the NAQP from W1.
