From what I gather nobody’s saying put FT4 in the biggest contests which
are CQWW CW or SSB or even CQWW RTTY. Maybe in RTTY roundup and field day
(which is not a contest). RTTY roundup has always welcomed digital modes
other than RTTY.

And yes a separate contest would work too but for some events organizers
could mix it in, as it is done already.

And things like state QSO parties which are done for fun and not for
serious competition (mostly).

Ft8 has had a minimal impact on contests where it is allowed today and I
doubt that would change. The only exception is VHF and up but on the flip
side it has also increased participation in general which is good for
contesting.
