Plan on joining the NA RTTY Sprint this Saturday, NA time (0000-0400 UTC,
Sunday, 10 March). This 4-hour mini-contest is a lot of fun and builds
operating skill as well.

If you're new to the Sprint format, read through the rules, paying
particular attention to rule 11, Special QSY Rule:

http://ncjweb.com/Sprint-Rules.pdf

Rule 7, Exchange, shows two example exchange transmission formats that
actually comprise the two exchanges you'll hear throughout the contest.
While not technically required, these two exchanges have been adopted by
convention over the years. The convention is that the soliciting station
(the one that must vacate the frequency after the QSO, per the QSY rule)
sends the first example exchange, while the answering station (who can
remain on frequency for another QSO if they wish) sends the second example
exchange. Following this convention lets listeners on the frequency know
which phase the QSO is in and which station is staying on frequency for
another QSO.

After experience with this QSY format, most participants find it
exhilarating. In the beginning, though, it can be intimidating. One way to
ease into it is to move a bit away from the main activity and call CQ. This
keeps you more in control of the QSO, although it means you have to move to
another frequency for the next QSO.

1. Log Submittal

After the contest, upload your Cabrillo log at:

2. Teams

There is also a team competition for teams of up to 5 entrants which is a
fun way to help increase participation. Teams must be pre-registered before
the contest at:

3. Practice

To prepare for Saturday's event, join the Thursday evening NCCC RTTY Sprint,
held weekly for fun practice. Here is an excerpt from K6MR's weekly
