Hi Ken,

You read something into my post that I didn't actually write...

"O wn, guest op or remote operate a SOHP SO2R mega-station
in a favorable location for DX contests." didn't suggest or imply
out of area operations, although you could operate out of your
home selection area during four events.

"F ind a guest operator opportunity at a somewhat less capable
SOHP station in the less competitive selection areas (you can
figure out which ones they might be...) is definitely limited to
four events.

Hi Frank,

I disagree with one of your comments "- own, guest op or remote operate a SOHP
SO2R mega-station in a favorable location for DX contests," Since an applicant
is limited to only 4 out of area competitions, I can't really qualify since
only 4 of my VY2TT scores will count. The same rule would apply to out of area
remote operations. Given the availability of remoting, and the increasing
number of rental remotes, this limit is not as viable as when it was created.

I agree with another of your comments " Most importantly enjoy yourself..."
Since I am not willing to trade fun for qualifying, I'll operate 10 out of area
competitions. I probably won't even be eligible as a teammate as with only 6
qualifying scores at most, I don't expect to be in the top 25% of my area.

73, Ken, K6LA / VY2TT

Its the same situation if you're in Tennessee or Kentucky competing against
Delaware. You're only hope is to guest or remote operate from much further
east.

Under these rules, you're only hope for being selected as a Team Leader is to:

- own, guest op or remote operate a SOHP SO2R mega-station in a favorable
location for DX contests, or

- find a guest operator opportunity at a somewhat less capable SOHP
station in the less competitive selection areas (you can figure out
which ones they might be...).

- perhaps compete in the still-undefined WRTC-Style MS or M2 category

As everyone knows or should know -- contest rules are not, never
have been, and can never be completely fair. You make whatever
adjustments you can to improve your capabilities and your set realistic
goals. Most importantly enjoy yourself, if you can't do that you're
in the wrong game.

And Minnesota is in the same group with West Virginia.

Did they just throw darts at a map?
