My multi-single team recently won a CQ SSB world winner plaque. We used a
Kenwood TS-480HX with filters and TCXO installed. It is not the best one
can get, but is a great value.

I have been playing around a little in the SSB Sweepstakes this weekend, and
was again reminded of how CW contesting is much easier when you have a
limited station. I am in the market for another radio, and wonder if any
current or recent 100 watt radios seem to have an edge in SSB contesting due
to there audio? Are their certain radios that just have better "contesting
audio", where they cut through the QRM and noise better?

I am currently using a Yaesu FT100D HF/VHF/UHF mobile type rig. Do these
mobile type radios tend to have weaker or thinner audio compared to base
type rigs?
