I guess Contesting is not an aspect of this hobby for those with not a
lot of money.
I am amazed at the level of Flames and number of them, I got from MANY
people on this E-Mail list about my comment about $200 dollars being
"Low Cost".
AGAIN! I was NOT picking on him about the product he was posting about.
Just the comment about it being "LOW COST" Alternate or not.
I guess I am in a super minority here. But I'm sorry, $200 dollars is
close to 50% of my whole station cost! So at least to me it isn't "Low
Cost" Even relative to what one Flamer Said of being a "Low Cost"
"Alternative". Even being an "Alternative" Low Cost is Relative.
Like a 2017 BMW ALPINA B7 - at a "Low Cost" of $137,000
Compared to a
Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Coupe $397,500
The Beemer is Low cost. But is it?
Again, I'm a Minority here I guess, When my whole station cost less than
$500 bucks, and 90% of the other hams that are local to me that I know,
in my neighborhood $200 is far from "Low Cost"
I mean Like Many many have no hesitation to go out and buy a almost $100
dollar Signal-link so they can try FT-8. Yet I have been having a Blast
on FT-8, and my "Signal-link" is lucky to have $10 bucks of parts in it
and 30 minutes of assembly time. And thats even at Radio Shack parts prices.
Sorry gang for this message. But I was truly amazed at the level of off
list Flaming I got for that comment.
