Ie: Is NB a mult ?
If it is indeed, I propose you let the software dev’s know and make it clear on

NB is an NS /NS Ladder multiplier.
We neglected to change the multiplier list, which was formerly tied to NA
Sprint mults plus a few others.
So for NS and NS Ladder:. .all NAQP multipliers. But add DC and 9Y, 9Z'; P4;
PJ0-4, PJ9.

It's no secret I don't personally like "MAR" as a multiplier, as we are some
of the very very few guys in North America that don't get to play for the
home team in a few select contests, but are lumped in together by
convenience due to MAR being our RAC section. (MAR is a holdover from the
old days when there wasn't enough ham population in NB, NS or PEI to even
count on one hand. )
Just by tradition and because folks locally are like that, nobody has ever
petitioned to separate the sections. Weird, as there are RAC directors and
deputy directors in the Provinces.
Non contester (local) hams could care less. . . . but I digress.
Slowly over the years, most contests have converted to all provinces, but
not all. (even the SSB Sprint folks listened)
If I wanted to be a real jerk (and believe me, I have thought about it) I
would show up in ARRL SS, C-QP and the Sprints and give NB as my mult and
refuse to give MAR (hi hi)
I'd rather not do that if I went to do a few casual NS NCCC Sprints though.
Those are good guys. I don't think after all I have been through I have a
hope in heck of changing the ARRL's mind until RAC changes MAR, but a lot of
contests have changed and perhaps NCCC-NS will too....we'll see what Bill
says.
Anyways, I'll be on Sat nite flying the NB flag as always, though if condx
are punk, I likely won't do a full effort.

participant. Bill N6ZFO is the guy in charge. I'm sure he will get in
touch with you. He has not been on Thursday nights for the last couple of
weeks so he may be on vacation. Let me know if you don't hear from him or
someone else from NCCC about this before long.
I doubt very much if the participants in NS would mind if you send NB.
And I'm absolutely sure that everyone would welcome your
participation. However, the logging software will not count your mult
if you send NB. At least Win-Test, the program I use, will not, and I
assume the others are the same. No doubt when it was set up, they just
copied the NA Sprint program. I just tried it and the Win-Test does not
recognize NB.
So it looks like a long-term campaign to change the NA Sprint rules is
needed. If this happens, the NS rules should automatically follow. For
starters, why don't you join the NCCC-Blue reflector (most NS participants
subscribe) and express your opinion there. I'm sure that many of the guys
will support you.
We have a lot of fun every week and if you would join us, it would be a real
plus. CW speeds get real fast (last night I set my speed at 46
WPM) and it is a real rush and good training for general contesting.

I agree 100% with you about MAR and I can't understand why this fiction
hasn't been retired a long time ago. SS uses ARRL sections, not states
and provinces, so it is a little more complex. I wonder how NL got to be
its own section. Is this population based? I suppose the guys in NT
(another fiction) feel the same as you guys in "MAR"?
I hope to see you in the NAQP CW this weekend. At least this contest is
consistent in counting states and provinces.
