Hi Bruce:
Give the NAQPs a try. Great training ground for that ..and everyone is
running 100W or less.
In addition ..any contest where you can work stateside ..as well as DX
should have some opportunity. Don't worry about asking for repeats etc
..we're calling you ...we want the Q ..if things are real marginal ...and we
don't need the mult ...we'll eventually give up then and try you later.
The only caution I'd give ..and I meant to mention this earlier in this
thread is ...*if* you have very high local noise floors ..you might want to
limit running. I don't do much running on the Low Bands here because of
that. I know it's frustrating for people to hear me quite well ..but me not
hear them. I'll occasionally do it when I'm otherwise just not going to be
able to put anything in the log.

"..but I do think the little pistols should try running ..more than they do
..especially later in contests ..or slow times in general."
I am trying to get comfortable with this but not having much success. I'm an
S&P guy through and through and not a competitor by any stretch, but would
really like to learn to run. ARRL DX seemed impossible to find a spot to
settle in and train on running (i.e. high up the band or otherwise "out of
the way"...)
Perhaps a different contest would be a better training ground for running.
The last thing I want to do is annoy people while fumbling with the
keyboard, asking for repeats, etc. I realize the best way to learn is to do,
but it's been a struggle.
Suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
