I find this information all quite interesting. Before anyone presumes VE9
or VE1 is better than W3 for working EU on the highbands (or any bands
maybe), I can say with utmost confidence having been an extreme 6m
enthusiast

for decades, that often, the southern W1's, W2's, Eastern W3's will have a
better crack at EU due to avoiding the AU oval, random reflection points or
any other variables not very fully understood. (especially if summertime (or
wintertime) Es (sporadic E) is involved)

Any very serious 6m guy will tell you that W4/W5 gets more Es than VE9/VO2
(for example)...this carries over to 10m and to a lesser degree 15m.

I have also witnessed many times (especially (but not limited to) during
disturbed condx) that stations in FLA are making it into EU on 10m via the
F-layer (and 6m) where we (VE9's) listen to a dead band.

Proximity does not necessarily guarantee the most Q's or strongest signals.

Yes, we do better than K9YC..
