Bill,As much as I respect the fine stations that you've been able to build, I don't know who the "us" is in your first sentence. Most of the "us" that includes me build stations where we live, which is usually determined by factors unrelated to ham radio. Is your "us" the 1% with all the money in the world? I don't believe that contesting rules should favor those with money to build any station anywhere, and I believe that contesting will be stronger and healthier if they does not. Contest scoring rules that leave 95% of the world's hams out of the game are simply not good for contesting. Your example of WAE is completely out of context. I'm talking about contests that are CALLED WorldWide, and ARRL DX contests that should be inclusive of members living anywhere, but are not. 73, Jim K9YC On Mon,5/25/2015 7:49 PM, K4XS via CQ-Contest wrote: Most of us choose our QTH. I chosethe QTH and live with it. When I lived out on KH6, there was no way I could beat guys on ZF/8P etc for the ARRL DX. However, it was my choice to operate from there....no bitching from me about the rules. For guys out on KH6, DARC's WAE contest is a contest where we could neverwin. I didn't expect the guys in Germany to change the rules because EU was 8000 miles away from KH6.Like any sport, if you don't like the way the game is played, don't play. The contest sponsors will know if the contest is a dud and will change the rules. If you don't like the way a certain QTH plays in a contest, we are always free to QSY permanently or temporarily to a new QTH to negate the QTH disadvantage.Contesting is supposed to be fun. When a certain contest is not, I turnoff the radio and do something else.By the way, KH7XS is a definite go, and I expect to be operating from aQTH less than a mile away from my old place by this time next year..even though WAE win is only in my dreams.K4XS/KH7XS _______________________________________________ CQ-Contest mailing list CQ-Contest@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/cq-contest |
