My comments refer to the fact that contesting community clearly seems to
give up traditional skillsets in favor for internet, RBN, clusters,
decoders, call databases etc etc.

Many traditional skills are gone!

Except that no traditional skill represents an alternative
communications mode to ham-band RF. The internet is not a
digital evolution of ham-band RF, it is a separate public
communications utility. The internet will continue for ever,
and for ever it will serve to undermine our use of, or
dependence on, ham-band RF - but only if we let it.

In this respect the internet differs fundamentally from
logging software, keyers, CW decoders, transceivers - but
we knew that all along, didn't we?

The RDXC is but one of many events that does not distinguish
between those contesters who connect to the internet (to
find or facilitate QSOs) and those who do not.

In line with VE5DX's "on-going digital evolution of the hobby",
we may look forward to the WRITC - World Radio and Internet
Team Championships.
