Actually, it's a know fact that _some_ operators change their check to try and thwart the "appliance contesters" out there. :-)

When starting 'serious' SS/SSB (from the W3LPL dx-contest station) she found "89" generated a lot of repeat requests.

So she changed to "08", the year she got K3MIM (or maybe her Extra).

Now she gets some "sure it's not '89'?" questions :-)

Just maybe others licensed in 80 - 89 have changed their checks?
