Andy,
Crimea is an emotive subject. The many previous posts do illustrate that, much
as we would like to do so, our hobby cannot be totally disassociated from
politics, we cannot completely disregard the humanitarian aspect which is the
reason for the CQWW Committee decision which is merely following the
international response to the annexation of Crimea.
In previous posts Counsel for the prosecution and the defence have made some
admirable points whilst stating their cases but the fact remains that our hobby
relies upon the fundamental principal of legally issued and internationally
recognised licencing.
your UB licence does not presently meet that criteria.
Additionally there was mention in a previous post that a Crimean op who entered
a Russian RTTY contest using his UU7 call has been DQ'd. If that is correct
would it not be a better course of action to prevail upon the contest
organisers of your new regime to reverse that decision before appealing to the
international community to put pressure on CQWW Committee? You can't have it
both ways.
I agree with many others who have said they shall be happy to work you on the
day. Contesting is much more about having fun on the day, giving it your best
shot, and submitting and comparing scores in the immediate aftermath on 3830,
that's when all of the excitement is. You can do all of that, is it so
important, in your present circumstances, that you may not see your name in
lights when the results are published? After all. that happens such a long time
afterwards that most guys have completely forgotten that contest entirely..
