Two things:
- Contest activity is way up during this time (because it is fun)
- Log submission via email is becoming accepted (because it is easy and
free)
The Cabrillo log standard was accepted by CQ and ARRL in August 1999. There
was a slow period as it got started, but then things started to pick up.
Now with Cabrillo/ADIF and LotW, we have 2500+ logs submitted for CQWW in
the first 12-18 hours.
