I think this is a valid point. If a DX station is for 1/2 the contest it
is less likely that you will work him, especially at night when the rates
are slower. I believe most "classic" entries did most of their operating
on Saturday and perhaps one should change their operating strategy and
hunt for common mults earlier. I am sure that I missed a lot of easy
multipliers on 40m last weekend by not finding them on the first day.

I don't know why that would be, Charly. It's not the first 24 calendar
hours of the contest, but the first total 24 hours that the operator
operates, in as many periods as he wishes. so long as the breaks are an
hour or more. To my mind, that just adds a strategic component that is
lacking in the full contest, but should not affect what you hear.
