There is no way that this will save K1TN any time (sorry, old buddy).
The number of repeat requests he will get by not following the established
and REQUIRED exchange "pattern" will actually cost him time.
I think that making an issue out of sending what undeniably is strictly a
"sync" for the rest of the exchange is essentially without merit.
If you think about it, what's so important about the rest of the exchange?
It's really all meaningless - isn't it?
It is for this reason that I find the criticism of the contents of the
required exchange to be of no value - when, the entire contest's value could
be questioned.
So, send the 5nn and stop complaining about redundancy.

No problem - so long as your entry is submitted as a check log (or, less
desirably, not at all).
Otherwise the Ch...er word can be applied to you.
Something you may not have thought about. Let's say
a) You make 1200 Qs in a contest
b) It takes 1 second to send 5NN
Not sending 5NN saves you 1200 seconds or 20 minutes. This gives you 20
more minutes of contest time than anyone else.
In the case of a M/M making 6,000 Qs we're now up to 100 minutes of
extra contest time. That could easily translate into an extra 100 Qs.
I think one's competitors might object. I know I would.
