Eh.
No disrespect to KF2O or anyone else responding intended or implied, but...
No contest, or for that matter no operating event, will be all things to all
people. Any given one will appeal to some, be of interest to others, and be
totally without merit to others.
So it goes.
All I can tell you is, I had fun. I didn't have as much BIC time as I'd hoped
for SSB, and conditions and other factors had a hand, so I didn't meet my
personal goals for the station this time around... but I had fun.
Best part of the SSB event, to me, was having KB3ERQ come over. Ben's helped me
operate in the DX contests before, but always as a logger or an observer. This
time, though, he was present as with a 6 day old CSCE and a /AG after his call
on HF. So I let Ben run solo for a few QSO's. He had a lot of fun, and he will
be back, on his own, in future contests. (I just hope I didn't cost myself an
operator for my M/S team!!)
And isn't that the whole point? To have fun?

His callsign is KF2O. Maybe he would have worked more stations last
weekend if he sent his call. I thought that DX participation was fantastic
in the ARRL DX Phone contest, even with the disturbed conditions.

Since you did not sign your posting with your call and name, I have no
perspective for your comments. This makes you an internet troll.

1 - almost impossible to find a run frequency without stepping on
someone's

2 - poor participation numbers by DX
3 - reduced # of country multipliers available; probably 25% less than
available in CQWW
4 - voicebox can't handle the traffic!
5 - keep working the same stations on the same bands that we have worked
countless times before
6 - BORING
Some stats:
- worked 794 different calls; 1281 total qsos
- just 133 separate stations (11%) gave me 40% of my total QSOs - worked
those
on 3 or more bands - virtually ALL of those stations I have worked in
every
contest in which I have made any effort - BORING
- 2 or more bands, 237 (18%) stations and 60% of the points!
Need something to increase interest, and participation, of DX stations
