It used to be a DX contest, now it's a rate contest. All of them are rate
contests.
Of course it's fun to run a pileup. But it's also fun to tune around and find
somebody really far away and spend some time trying to work him. The rules for
ARRL and CQ DX contests reward working a new multiplier, maybe far away, but
not for working a second station in the same multiplier. What's wrong with a
small reward for working another far away station in the same multiplier?
All we are saying, is give distance a chance.
