One idea to deal with "entry category shopping": have the contest sponsor
automatically enter each submitted log in every category it was eligible for
(based on number of operators, allowable power, assisted/non-assisted, etc). So
for example SOAB unassisted entries would automatically compete as well in
SOAB(A) and single band categories. A low-power station could place in the
high-power categories, etc. With this kind of scoring one person/callsign could
win in more than one category.
In other words, just choose whatever "limiting" parameters describe your
operation/station in that contest, and submit a log. No need to even choose a
category.
