what makes it a contest radio is the ability to change over (send /
receive) quickly, be able to handle pencil and key in one hand; toggle
switch in other or a foot switch.
nothing can change in frequency during this operation, and your receiver
should be muted during transmit enough to hear your transmitted signal
cleanly
that's all, any more equipment is superfluous
