Maybe that's because in CQWW the whole score from a multi-op is not
credited to one single club but rather a pro-rated fraction of the score
goes to the clubs to which each operator belongs. OTOH, ARRL requires
that 50% of the ops from the club to which the whole score is credited
which presents another obstacle to being able to count the operation by
a diverse team of operators.
And since for both CQ and ARRL club competitions, club members must
reside within "the local circle" of the club to which they contribute
score, it's not likely there has ever been one big pot of points out
there to be "recruited."

I'd suspect that portions of those huge scores have benefited several
clubs :-)
