Subject: [NCCC-blue] Announcing: NSL Locust X-Prize & Y-Prize

Gotta keep the NSL Prize Ball rolling here, so I am pleased to announce TWO
goodies from LocustLand for the 2010 NSL:

1. The LOCUST X-PRIZE . An NCJ Subscription (or Renewal) for the first
operator to score 3,000 points during a single 2010 NSL event. For NSL 6,
the original 3,000 point goal was adjusted down to 2,750 after some folks
whined that 3,000 points was impossible. Even at 2,750 points, many came
close but no proverbial cigar until Mike/W9RE, shattered the alleged glass
ceiling with a whopping 2,838 points. Tonight, Tor/N4OGW racked up a 2,772
point score, and The Booga/N3BB pushed the edge of the envelope close to the
Magic 3,000 with his incredible 2,911 points !!! S-T-R-E-T-C-H-I-N-G the
limits of man and machine is what the LOCUST X-PRIZE is all about. Even
with a No Dupes venue, I firmly believe 3,000 points is possible. Yes, it
will take getting some more Mults on the air, and we can ALL do our part to
make this happen. Accordingly, I have added.

2. The LOCUST Y-PRIZE . An NCJ Subscription (or Renewal) for the first
operator to bag 50 Mults during the a single 2010 NSL event. The Naysayers
will again say impossible, but if we each do our part to get some of the
heretofore missing Mults on the air, then everyone wins in one way or
another. More Mults on-the-air also means more potential QSOs. 60 Q's
times 50 Mults = 3,000 points, so the LOCUST X-PRIZE can be a doable deal.
We simply need to encourage (or pester) our Ham pals in the currently Dark
(or semi-Dark) Mults to get their butts in the chair on Thursday Nights :^)

Historical Factoid: In the early stages of the NS when the top QSO numbers
were stuck in the 40's, I predicted that the 50 QSO barrier would be broken.
I won't name names (or callsigns), but many scoffed and said I was dreaming.
HA!

Unless band condx go El Stinko for the upcoming September CW Sprint, I also
predict the previous hourly rates (Feb. Sprint) for some of our NSL Cult
Members will rise to new heights, and largely due to the amazing ramp up in
NSL operating proficiencies and WPM (proof that practice-practice-practice
is good-good-good).

Suggestion: Let's start the 2010 NSL earlier so that we don't have to
suffer through so many weeks of the Summer low-band scourge !!!

73 & long live the (S)NS(L) events.

P.S. Yes, Martha, there may also be a LOCUST Z-PRIZE one day :^)
