The K3 protocol is the same as the K2 one (as a starting point). There
probably will be extensions at some point. There is a DB9 on the back
of the radio. There is only a 1:1 DB9 male to female cable required to
hook the radio up to your computer. There is an optional USB interface
module that you can use instead.
With the logging program I use (TR log) - it works perfect. The frequency
update is instant - and updates many times/second. The RIT command work.
I don't see any issues with TR Log - and no changes were required to TR Log
to make it work.
I understand that there are some rough edges with some of the other logging
programs - but these are likely timing issues that will need to be ironed
out with the logging program authors.
