In some cases the software DOES fill in the report. I know two specific
examples (both from CT (DOS)):
1. In CQ WW, the software fills in the Zone (in addition to the automatic
59/599).
2. In NAQP, once you have the report from the first band, the software fills it
in for QSOs on subsequent bands. (See my comments on the 3830 Reflector.) I
recognize that this is a bit different from using a pre-contest database.
I'm sure there are other software and contest combo's where this happens. Of
course, in #1 you do have to make sure he is sending what the software says.
And in #2 you do have to make sure that the data from the first QSO is OK.
