I suspect that a good part of those making qsos in a DX contest (especially
on the high bands, and on phone) are just looking to see what DX they can
work. They don't care about running, making a big score, etc. They are very
willing to sit around in a pileup to get a DX qso. For them, it would be far
more frustrating finding something good, listen long enough to figure out who
it is, and then have them disappear after one qso.
