New calls in Wk 8 included, among others, K07X, W6NOW
and KU8E; welcome Alan, Juan, Jeff, good to have your participation.
Just 4 weeks to go, and still time to jump in and experience
the hectic NS summer fun.
Discussion this week reflected concerns about timing accuracy.
Please see the new more specific rule on www.ncccsprint.com/rules.htm.
In essence we recommend the following time accountability:
1) Set the start time accurately by syncing with WWV.
2) At the contest end, don't solicit a QSO unless you have
some reasonable prospect of completing it.
3) That having been said, and recognizing reality and the
compulsive nature of sprinters . . if you have solicited a
QSO and copied a responding station's complete call before
the "bell", go ahead and complete the QSO.
[The rule reads: NS begins at exactly 1930. A participant may
not respond to a CQ or its equivalent more than 30.00 mins
later -- 2000) (Times in PDST.) ]
Scores from Wk 8 will be posted shortly. No 2000 point totals
last week, [N3BB, 1848; N6RO, 1680; W9RE 1650) but there's
another chance on Thursday. We added Wy, but lost Ms for
the week. W9RE and N6RO still jointly hold the 61-QSO
NS record.
