First, I have to say I am always amazed at the negative reviews
the TS-2000 gets from people who have never touched it. I'm not
sure what spurs this - but seemingly whenever someone asks
about it, the first reply is always that "it didn't get good reviews" etc.
(Check the reviews at www.eham.net, they are overwhelmingly positive.)

Of course not - but at $1500 or so (depending on the model)
you get a big bang for the buck. Is it effective? My scores
aren't winning contests, but they sure do me well with limited antennas.
The adjustable filters on CW are simply fantastic. There is
another magic button type of feature that suddenly knocks
out the noise, and your weak signal suddenly pops out clearly.
The phone audio is super. The menus are easy to deal with.
If you like VHF/UHF contesting, you get 100 watts for
2 meters, 50 watts on 432 and the option is there for 1296.
Go to a ham store, to Dayton, wherever and sit down and tune
it up and down the band and see what you think, because that
is what matters - not whether someone on the reflectors gives
the radio a bad review when they don't own one.
